ChatGPT Plugin Documentation

Follow each step in order. Open any screenshot at full size to see the details.

01Step 1 of 6

Add CrawlHunt in ChatGPT

Open the Plugins page in ChatGPT, search for CrawlHunt and add it. ChatGPT then sends you to a CrawlHunt page to sign in and approve access.

Sign in to your CrawlHunt account if asked (two-factor sign-in works as usual)
Review the permissions listed on the approval page: read your audits, start scans, and apply fixes you confirm
Click Allow to connect, or Cancel to stop. Nothing is shared until you click Allow
02Step 2 of 6

Scan a website

Ask ChatGPT to scan a site, for example: "Use CrawlHunt to scan example.com". CrawlHunt adds the site to your account if it is new, crawls it, and ChatGPT reports progress and then the issues found.

A scan takes a few minutes depending on the size of the site
Scans count against your CrawlHunt plan limits, exactly as scans started from the dashboard
Ask for the affected pages of any issue, such as images missing alt text or pages missing a title or meta description
03Step 3 of 6

Preview an AI fix

Ask ChatGPT to fix an issue, for example: "Write a better title for the pricing page". CrawlHunt generates the text and ChatGPT shows you the current and proposed versions. Nothing on your website changes at this step.

Page titles, meta descriptions and image alt text are supported
Generating a fix uses your CrawlHunt AI credits
Previews expire after 30 minutes
04Step 4 of 6

Apply the fix to your store

If you approve the proposed text, tell ChatGPT to apply it. CrawlHunt then updates the page on your connected store. ChatGPT is instructed to ask for your approval first, and CrawlHunt only applies text that was shown to you in a preview.

Applying changes your live website, so the usual CrawlHunt live-fix notice applies: accept it once in your CrawlHunt dashboard, and it stays valid for 6 hours
Only the connected store that matches the page address is changed
Every change is recorded in your CrawlHunt history
05Step 5 of 6

Undo a fix

Ask ChatGPT to undo the last fix and CrawlHunt restores the previous text. Fixes applied through ChatGPT can be undone this way for 24 hours, and any fix can be undone later from the History tab in your CrawlHunt dashboard.

06Step 6 of 6

Your data and disconnecting

The plugin only works on your own CrawlHunt account and only does what you ask it to.

ChatGPT receives the audit results, page addresses and page text you ask about, which ChatGPT then handles under OpenAI's own terms
CrawlHunt never sees your ChatGPT conversation. It only receives the specific requests ChatGPT sends to its tools
CrawlHunt stores access tokens in hashed form and never receives your ChatGPT password
To disconnect, remove CrawlHunt from your ChatGPT plugins. Access tokens can also be revoked on request at contact@crawlhunt.com
See the CrawlHunt Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions for how your account data is handled
